Angelina Therrian
CALUMET — Angelina Therrian, 98, a resident of Calumet, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021, after a short illness and is now in Heaven with Jesus, healthy and whole again.
She was born April 10, 1923, in Malden, Massachusetts, to the late Antonio and Maria (Crescenzina Izzo) Venditti.
She helped her widowed dad raise her family due to her mom’s passing when she was eight in Detroit, where her dad had moved to, as there was better pay to raise a family with Ford.
Angelina and Albert met when they were both working for Ford Motor Company in Detroit until 1948. They fell in love and were united in marriage and then moved to Calumet and opened Al and Angie’s Bar and Restaurant on 7th Street in Calumet. They ran the bar and restaurant from 1949-76. Her husband Al’s hamburgers, made from “steak meat,” were sought after and known as the best hamburgers in town.
The Lord blessed them with three children, Marlain, Shirley, and Jim.
Angie enjoyed waiting on people, listening and talking to them, and was liked and loved by many. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her tasty, original spaghetti sauce.
She loved reading her Bible and singing praises to the Lord. She was a strong Christian and attended Pastor Ken Toth’s Northern Christian Assembly. She prayed and dedicated her first daughter and oldest child Marlain to Jesus at birth for His service which was fulfilled as Marlain became a full-time missionary preaching the Gospel at 21 and at 71, has almost 50 yrs. of service in India, Nepal, Romania, etc. and the U.S., along with her husband, son and daughter who were doing the same. God answered her prayer.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; brothers, Julio and John Venditti; and three sisters Amelia Koskodan, Bridget (Al) Gyzynski, and Mary Ellen (Louis) Gianuzzi.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlain (Jonathan) Birdi of Calumet; grandson, Feliz Birdi of Calumet and granddaughter, Isabelle Birdi of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughter, Shirley (Roger) Helms of Monterey, Tennessee; granddaughter Angelique (Murray) and two great-granddaughters, Maya and Maci of Monterey, Tennessee; grandsons, Jason Helms and Justin Helms of Monterey, Tennessee; her son, Jim (Johnna) Therrian of Canton, Michigan; grandson, Christopher (Stacey) Foster and great-granddaughter Alyvia and great-randson Aidan of Clarkston, Michigan; granddaughter Kristen (Sam) Perram of Canton, Michigan and great granddaughter, Reagan, plus various nieces and nephews.
