Margaret Peterson
COPPER CITY — Margaret “June” Peterson, 80, a resident of Copper City passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Omega House in Houghton.
She was born on June 5, 1941, in her home at Copper City to William and Cecelia (O’Neill) Rost. She attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1960.
She was united in marriage to Gordon Peterson on January 27, 1962, in Calumet.
June loved to sew and read. She also loved watching and spending time with her many animals. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a very good handy worker, she loved gardening, cooking and baking.
She was also the family historian.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Cecelia Rost; husband Gordon; son, Nick; three sisters, and two brother-in-laws.
She is survived by her children, Marie (Larry) Butala of Marquette. Steve (Sherry) Peterson of Copper City; grandchildren, Timmy (Lisa), Benji (Emilee), Jimmy (Brianna), Jake, Jared, Jake (Nikki), Serena (Trenton), Bill (Shelby), Steven, Breanna (Tristan), Amelia, and Penny; great-grandchildren, Max, Eva, Lexi, Hank, Zoey, Thomas, Raymond, Ace, Anistyn, Noah, and Dominick; sister, Kathy (Herb) Leopold of Hancock; dog, Pippin; special friend, Maria Redd; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 11 a.m. with Father Gracious Pulimoottil to officiate.
Burial will take place in the spring in Calvary Cemetery.
