Mathew Walters

Mathew was born in Ontonagon to the parents of Kathy and James Walters on September 23, 1991.

He attended Ontonagon Area Schools. He was trained and passionate about woodworking and art. Mathew enjoyed exploring the wilderness with his family and was a man who loved complex and inquisitive conversations.

Above all else, Mathew’s greatest passion was to make people smile and laugh.

Mathew is survived by his parents, Kathy and James Walters; his fiance, Aimee and stepdaughter Jayda Kempen; siblings, Tyler (Michelle) Walters, Jessica Walters, Jimmy Walters, and Tonia Coey; his grandmother, Elizabeth Westman; aunt, Sheri Westman uncle Pete Walters, aunt Peggy Walters; grandmother, Pat Walters, uncle Shawn (Deb) Westman, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mathew is preceded in death by his grandfather, John Westman; grandfather, Jim Walters; cousins, Eric and Kourtney Westman, and his best friend, Devin Shamion.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, from 12-1 p.m. at Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon.

A luncheon will follow at Cane Court in Ontonagon.

Burial will be held in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon.

The family would like to ask that any donations be made to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration 5600 Fishers Lane Rockville, MD 20857.
