Donna Parsons
HOUGHTON — Donna Parsons, 69, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Canal View-Houghton County.
She was born on December 11, 1952, in Detroit to Leonard and Isabelle (Shelafoe) Michaelson. She attended the local schools.
Donna married Ed Parsons on August 16, 1975. They shared 46 faithful years together. Donna loved her husband. When she was speaking to him she often finished the sentence with “love” instead of his name. Coffee, bologna sandwiches, and the three stooges will not be the same with out her.
Donna loved going on walks with her husband, eating out, and she loved shopping. Donna also enjoyed plants, flowers, and knick-knacks. If you traveled by their home on 41 you would often see her outside watering plants or decorating her yard. Some of Donna’s favorite things were Mickey Mouse, Santa Clause, and Christmas presents. For many years Donna kept her Christmas tree up all year round because of the joy it brought her.
For most of her life Calumet was her home. Donna treated the people of Calumet like family, and many of the people of the local stores, restaurants, gas stations, banks, treated her like family. A special thanks to the community of Calumet for the love and care they have shown over the years.
Donna loved and trusted in Jesus. Attending the First Baptist Church was a favorite thing to do. Since they started attending in the early 80’s it was rare for her to miss a Sunday with her husband and her church family. A special thanks to her church family at First Baptist for their love and care over the years.
Donna is survived by her husband, Ed Parson of Calumet; her sisters; Linda, Beverly, Diane, and Evelyn; and many faithful friends from the community of Calumet.
Ed Parsons has requested the company of the community of Calumet to join him in remembering his wife.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Laidlaw to officiate.
Friends and family may visit with Ed at First Baptist Church on Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 11 a.m. until the service begins at noon. Everyone is invited to stay for the luncheon following the service.
