Patricia J. Salani
HANCOCK — Patricia J. Salani, 84, a longtime resident of Hancock, passed away on Thursday evening, February 3, 2022, at Portage Pointe in Hancock.
She was born on March 17, 1937, in Ontonagon, the daughter of the late Edward and Violet (Sain) Voss.
Following graduation from Ontonagon High School in 1955, she became a registered nurse after graduation from Saint Joseph School of Nursing. She was employed as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Hancock for several years before going to work as a chair-side nurse for Dr. Robert Nara, DDS until her retirement.
She married Louis G. Salani on April 4, 1959, at St. Joseph-St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hancock. He preceded her in death in April of 2001.
Patricia was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock where she was a member of the Prayer Shawl group. She was a very good knitter, she loved gardening and bird watching, and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
She is survived by her three children, Deborah (Mark) VanWagner of Dollar Bay, LuAnne (Jeff) Montgomery of Haslett, Michigan, and Joseph (Annette) Salani of Oxford, Michigan; grandchildren, Courtney (Nathan) Fisher, Timothy (Amber) VanWagner, Stacy (Bryant) Weathers, and Nolan (Kelsey Cronk) Salani; great-grandchildren, Mason Weathers, Cole Weathers, and Brie VanWagner; and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Father Jubish Joseph to officiate. Spring burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. before the services at the church on Tuesday.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Church of the Resurrection Prayer Shawl Ministry. Special thank you to the staff at Portage Pointe for their kind and compassionate care for Patricia while she was a resident there.
