Roy Wallace Anderson

ISHPEMING — Roy Wallace Anderson, age 92, of Ishpeming, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2022.

He was born on May 7, 1929, in Hancock, the son of Wallace L. and Ethel G. (Stoddard) Anderson. He attended school in Houghton, from grade school through high school.

Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War, at Heartbreak Ridge. He served honorably and heroically.

Roy was a welder by trade and worked at Cleveland Cliffs. He was of Lutheran faith. He enjoyed hunting, brook and stream fishing and especially fishing for Lake Trout at Lake Superior. He was skilled at mounting antlers sets and enjoyed doing that for fellow hunters. Roy loved giving candy away, especially Hershey Kisses and mini 3 Musketeers. He did not leave the house without his bag of candy and loved to bring a smile to everyone.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen (Lauren Winsor) Cleary of Manistique, and Wanda Anderson, of South Range; brothers Lawrence “Joe” Anderson of Iron Mountain; grandchildren, Dustin (Franchesca) Peterson of Houghton, Kylie (Keith) Sever of Hubbell, Greg Cleary of Dollar Bay, Alanna (Joe) Sweeney of South Range; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents; son Theodore “Teddy” Anderson; and four brothers and two sisters.

Memorial contributions in Roy’s name may be made to family for future designation.

Fausett Family Funeral Homes of Manistique is assisting the family with arrangements.
