Christopher St. Martin

ATLANTIC MINE — Christopher St. Martin, 54, a resident of Atlantic Mine, passed away Sunday morning, March 13, 2022, in McCall, Idaho.

He was born on July 11th, 1967, in Northampton, Massachusetts, the son of Caroline Ann Lazarz and the late Josheph Richard St. Martin.

He grew up in eastern Massachusetts.

Christopher was a graduate of South Hadley High School with the class of 1985 and attended UMass. He worked as a tow truck driver prior to enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1988.

His Coast Guard career took him to every corner of the country along with many places outside the U.S. After 23 years of service, Christopher retired from the Coast Guard with his last tour being USCG Station Portage, officer in charge, ordered to stay in the Keweenaw and spend more time with his family.

After a couple of years with Amerigas, where he traveled weekly across the country, he decided it was time to stop traveling. The last few years he spent working with different jobs and getting to know the people of the U.P.; as a Michigan Tech police dispatch, facilities manager at Keweenaw National Historical Society, or the parts and service manager at Northland Lawn and Sport, he was sure to have fun with whatever he was doing.

Christopher was a member of Portage Lake Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed everything outdoors… snowmobiling, hunting and fishing and there was not place better than the Keweenaw to enjoy these activities.

Surviving are his wife, Julia St. Martin of San Rafael, California; children, Joshua (Macy) and Nicole; parents, Kenneth and Caroline Courtenay, step- sisters, Leslie Tovell and Diane Warren (Kevin); step-brother, Kenneth Courtenay; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Christopher will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Hope Fellowship Church of Houghton.

Visitation on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Hope Fellowship Church of Houghton from 2 to 3 p.m.
