Reginald Harrell

LAURIUM — Reginald Harrell, 84, a resident of Laurium, passed away at his home on Tuesday March 8, 2022.

He was born on July 8, 1937, in Isle Wight County, Virginia, to Walter and Ida (Babb) Harrell. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Portsmouth, Virginia.

Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Reg was certified as an Electronic Technician serving at several Air Force installations and ultimately stationed at the Calumet station as a Radar instructor/technician.

Reg was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather to five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He enjoyed watching the Detroit Red Wings, smoking his pipe, traveling around the world, and solving crossword puzzles. Reg was a scout leader for many years for the scouting programs in Calumet, Laurium, and Lake Linden troops. He enjoyed equipping the youth in his area for their future endeavors. Reg served on the Laurium City Council for many years primarily on the police/fire committees.

In April, 1963, Reg was united in marriage to Nikki D. Anderson in Elwood, Pennsylvania.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ida (Babb) Harrell; his brothers, James Newman, William Clement; his sister, Barbara Byrd (Bowles); and his wife, Nikki Diane (Anderson).

He is survived by his sons, Robert (Holly) Harrell of Boise, Idaho, Douglas Harrell of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; daughter, Kristen (Ron) of Laurium; grandchildren, Reid (Meghan), Ashleigh, Katherine, Brady (Sandy), and Tay, Virginia (William) Collins of Portsmouth, Faye (Aubrey) Holland of Portsmouth; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Reginald’s wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date with his family in Virginia.
