Susan M. (Aubin) Salo

MOHAWK — Susan M. (Aubin) Salo, 63, a resident of Mohawk, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

She was born on February 11, 1959, in Laurium to Charles and Catherine (Zubiena) Aubin.

She attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1977.

She worked for Columbia Linen Services and retired from Rippa Machine in the early 2000s.

Susan loved music and playing the guitar. She also enjoyed going to the casino, crocheting, working on crosswords, agate and rock picking on the many local beaches. She had a passion for bowling where she earned the nickname “Spooner.” She was also a movie fanatic and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Catherine Aubin; her first husband and father of her children Robert Halley; and her sister, Patricia Fausone.

She is survived by her fiance, Charles Klingkammer of Mohawk; children, Melissa (Ernesto) Espinoza of Ishpeming, Edward (Kimberly) Halley of Calumet, Phillip (Shanna) Halley of Calumet; grandchildren, Aliah (Caleb) Carlson, Lyric Halley, Savannah Halley, Vaida Halley, Phoenix Espinoza, Nevaeha Halley; great grandson, Orion Carlson; siblings, Don “Scorch” (Heather) Aubin of Calumet, Charles “Chucky” Aubin of Laurium, Peggy (Don) Steckman of Negaunee, Mike (Debbie) Aubin of Calumet, Kathy (Dan “Mad Dog”) Mukavetz of Laurium, Janey (Bill) Bastian of Calumet, Paul Aubin of Baraga; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Susan’s request, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will take place in the summer.
