HANCOCK — Thomasine Hannah Bennett a long time Copper Country resident, passed away on February 24, 2022, at the age of 71, with her family by her side.
She was born on December 12, 1950, to Leonard and Joan Sackson in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
On August 26, 1973, she married Mark Edward Bennett and had three children Kelly, Amy and Joshua.
Tomi was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Joan; husband, Mark; brother, Brian; sisters, Sharon, and Maureen; her best four-legged friend Philly, along with other nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughters, Kelly (Craig) Kastelic, Amy (Dan) Gregorich; son, Joshua (Danielle) Bennett; brothers, Tim (Donna) Sackson, Leonard Sackson; and sisters-in-law, Diane Sackson and Janice Sackson.
Tomi’s world revolved around her grandchildren, Hannah (Kody), Madeline, Grace, Ida, Claire, Garrett, Mark, Max, and Elliot.
Thomasine was known as Grandma Tomi to everyone and had a gift of making you feel the most intense form of love that one would ever know.
The simple pleasures in life brought her great joy. She was an excellent cook and always made sure no one ever went hungry. She had a passion for hiking, cross country skiing and spending time on the shores of Lake Superior. She was known for her ability to get her 2WD car down some of the most grown in trails with the best berry patch as the end goal. Grandma Tomi was the best trail guide and most of her grandchildren learned how to drive on those trails even if they couldn’t see over the steering wheel.
There are no words that will ever describe the impact Grandma Tomi made in our lives and if you were lucky enough to have known her then you were blessed beyond measure.
In honor of her legacy, we will live our lives to the fullest and never forget to stop and smell the flowers.
A celebration of her life will be held in July.
In lieu of money or flowers, the family requests you go and buy yourself a Coca-Cola as that was her signature drink and find a spot on the beach and watch the sunset!
