Marion “Nita” Wiitanen

GRAND BLANC – Marion “Nita” Wiitanen, age 87, of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
Marion was born October 3, 1934 to the late Waino and Ida (Huhta) Sorvala in Jacobsville, Michigan.
She loved being with her family and making memories with them. Marion was an avid collector of Hallmark keepsakes, and loved flowers, especially geraniums. Families and friends cherished the Hallmark cards they would receive on their birthdays and anniversaries from Marion, and she never forgot their memorable dates. She also took great pride in caring and decorating her home.
In her earlier years, she had beautiful gardens and enjoyed tending to them. Marion loved baking, and her family enjoyed many delicious baked goods. Her children said she had “Sisu”, if you’re a Finn you’ll know what that means. Truly she was the “kindest and sweetest lady on Earth.” Marion will be dearly missed by her loving family, and by all who had the privilege to know her.
Marion leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 67 years, Roy; loving children Terry (Leigh) Wiitanen, Michael (Becky) Wiitanen and Kelly (Rich) Adriaens; ten cherished grandchildren whom she was so proud of and ten beautiful great grandchildren whom she adored; and her dear brother Jimmy (Mabel) Sorvala.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Marion’s honor.
A graveside service for Marion will take place on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Jacobsville Cemetery in Jacobsville, MI.
