Amy L. (Ala) Nichols

WILMINGTON – Amy L. (Ala) Nichols 44 of Wilmington N.C. and formerly of Laurium passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2022. She was born March 21, 1978 in Hancock MI to Scott and Sheryl (Hakala) Ala. She was raised in Laurium, graduated from Calumet High School, and studied at Northern Michigan University. She married Christopher Nichols on June 26, 1999 and moved to Green Bay, WI, and then various other states with his job. Preceding her in death were her Grandfathers Walter Ala and Ralph Hakala. Surviving is her husband Christopher Nichols, children Mila and Kade Nichols from Wilmington, NC, her parents Scott and Sheryl Ala of Cape Coral Fl, brother Aaron (Michelle) Ala, nephew Avery and niece Brooke from Rockford, MI and Grandmother’s Grace Ala of Laurium and Joyce Hakala of Lake Linden and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be on July 30th from 9 to 11am with a funeral service at 11 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran church on 146 Tamarack St. Laurium with Pastor Lundquist officiating. Amy was a free spirit and loved to help people with anything they needed. Laughing was her forte and the most important thing to her was being a good mother. She’s at peace now with God.
