Nancy Nelson

Nancy Ellis Nelson, age 80 of Oshkosh, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at The Courtyard. She was born on March 30, 1942 to the late Leland and Frances (Rathbone) Hooker in Haverhill, MA. She married John Soren Nelson on March 7, 1964 in Marquette, MI. They raised two daughters, and celebrated 46 years of marriage before his passing. Nancy attended Northern Michigan University where she received her bachelor’s degree in education. She taught countless elementary students over the course of her 35-year career. She was a well-versed artist and photographer who used her talents to create beautiful stained-glass pieces, Ukrainian Eggs, paintings, drawings, and photographs. She always loved visiting the U.P. and hauling rocks home from the Lake Superior shoreline. Nancy is lovingly survived by her daughters: Kimberly (Edward) Fischer and Karen (Jay) Frost; grandchildren: Arafel, Renee, Isabelle, and Quinn Fischer, Mitchell, and Alexander (Serena) Frost. In addition to her husband and parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Austin, and Susan Hooker.Per Nancy’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
