Mary Wysock
Mary (Pintar) Wysock, 65, a resident of Munster Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 18th at home with loving family around her. She was born on Feb 5, 1957 in Chicago to August and Barbara (Bramila) Pintar.
She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Barbara Pintar, sister Margaret Pintar and brother Dave Pintar.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Wysock, step son’s Kevin (Emily) Wysock, Brian (Krystle Barber) Wysock, brothers and sisters including Sharon (Jon) Grieger, Theresa Reilly, August Pintar Jr., Jacob Pintar, Robert Pintar, and Steve (Stephanie) Pintar as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Mary grew up in the Burnside neighborhood of south Chicago but had a strong connection to Calumet Michigan on the Keweenaw Peninsula where her parents were from. She relocated there in the latter part of her elementary school years and graduated from Calumet High School.
She moved back to the Chicago area to pursue a degree in psychology from Purdue University NW. After some years working in the social service area, she advanced her degree to a masters in educational counseling.
Mary applied that education, working as an academic advisor at Calumet College, Ivy Tech, and finally bring her career full circle at Purdue University NW.
Mary had an innate ability of being a compassionate and attentive listener. Whether you were a social service client, a student needing guidance, or a friend just needing to talk, Mary was there to listen, to affirm your feelings, to help you know you were important and loved.
She enjoyed the arts, dabbling in writing, drawing, painting, pottery and jewelry making. For some years she sold much of her jewelry at local art fairs.
She also was a faith filled person and a longtime member of the St. Victors Catholic Church in Calumet City IL. She combined her love of music and faith, participating in the choir and ringing the hand bells. The faith community and choir at St. Victors was a very special and dear part of her life for over 30 years.
Mary was a gatherer and organizer. She loved to bring family and friends together. Always making sure to have someone to visit, her social calendar was full. Always generous with a hug to say hello and another to say goodbye, I love you, to let you know she cared.
A lover of nature, she made sure to keep the birds, squirrels, butterflies and bees always happy and satisfied at the window feeders. Loved to garden, grow veggies and preserve the goodness from the earth for the days to come.
Many will miss her, but will surely remember her bright smile, her tender heart, her joyful, loving and caring spirit she leaves behind with all she touched. The world is a better place because she was born into it!
A gathering of family and friends will take place at St Paul the Apostle Church, 301 8th St, Calumet MI at 11 am., Saturday October 8th. A prayer service will start at 12pm followed by a burial at Lake View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to a cancer foundation of your choice, or consider planting a tree in her memory, and for a more sustainable world.
