Lempi Hanson

Hancock native Lempi (Simonson) Hanson, also known as Lee, 101, passed away peacefully in Kalispell, Montana on January 25, 2023 with family by her side.

Lempi was born in Hancock on December 25, 1921 to August and Alexandra Simonson. She married Harold Hanson in 1945 and they raised their family in Hancock. She was widowed in 1984 and moved with her son to Kalispell, Montana in 1992.

Lempi was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. Her faith was foremost in her life, followed by her love for her family and friends. She was content with a simple life and was cherished by many, including 143 descendants.

Lempi was preceded in death by her husband Harold Hanson, their infant son Carl Hanson, her parents and her 7 siblings.

She is survived by her children: Virginia Hanson of Carmel Valley, Cal., Barbara (Thomas) Sharp of Port Angeles, Wa., Daniel Hanson of Kalispell, MO., Alvin (Janice) Hanson of Kalispell, Carol (Michael) Granger of North East, Md., Susan (Norman) Erickson of Brighton, Mich. and Mary Hanson of Arlington, Va. along with 22 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren, and countless dear friends.

A visitation is scheduled at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church In Kalispell on January 29 from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same church on January 30 at 11 am, with visitation starting at 10. Burial is planned for Hancock in the spring.
