Pauline Rae Gaffney

Pauline Rae Gaffney, age 73, of Manistique, passed away on March 2, 2023 at her residence.

She was born on October 20, 1949, in Hancock, MI, the daughter of John Sneed and Ruth Kommes. She attended schools in Painesdale, MI. Later she attended some classes at Suomi College in Hancock, MI.

Pauline lived most of her life in the Copper Country, where she was employed at the theaters in Hancock and Houghton. She moved to Manistique in 1999, and married Greg Gaffney in Munising, MI on December 31, 2002.

Pauline organized the Toivola Centennial Celebration. She enjoyed gardening, raising and showing Lhasa Apso dogs, four of which were champions, and she liked to spend time watching the birds and deer in her yard.

Pauline is survived by her husband Greg Gaffney of Manistique. Her sons Raymond (Gina) Alatalo of Clifford, MI, and Brian (Pam) Alatalo of Mooresville, NC; daughter Sheila (Joe) Tormala in Atlantic Mine, MI. Her brother Jeffrey Dugdale of Toivola, MI; sisters Jackie Dugdale of Atlantic Mine, MI, Torey Kostamo of South Range, MI, and Cindy Lorenz of Painesdale, MI. 3 grandchildren, Katrina (Justin) Linna, Bryan Alatalo and Kristyna (Michael) Grimm and 2 great-granddaughters, Aurora and Elena.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father Sidney Dugdale, and brothers-in-law Paul Kostamo and Roger Lorenz.

Family will honor Pauline privately this summer up in the copper country. Fausett Family Funeral Home of Manistique, MI is assisting the family with arrangements.
