June H. Vandette

Laurium — June H. Vandette (maiden name June Randell) born and raised in Laurium, born June 6, 1933, passed away on March 3, 2023.

June was the daughter of Helen and William Randell. She was born in Calumet, and raised on Atlantic Avenue, Laurium. She was one of nine children.

June graduated Calumet HS in June, 1951.

She was an outstanding student, and at the time of her graduation in 1951, June was hired for a secretarial position in the FBI and moved to Washington D.C.

In 1953 she returned to the Copper Country and met her husband Ed Vandette of Houghton, Michigan, and they married in 1955. June had two sons, Edmund and Robert.

She worked full time as a secretary at MTU, and raised her children at the family home in Chassell.

At 47 years old, she returned to college to complete her degree and teach locally.

Upon retirement, June remained active in Red Hats and various other organizations.

She was the proud grandparent to her first grandchild Maxwell, and later had three additional grandchildren Shannon, Kelly and Erin.

Later, June became the proud great-grandmother to Harper Vandette.

June loved her family, and friends and her community. She especially loved and appreciated her immediate neighbors who took care of her and showed her tremendous kindness throughout her life.

Her family will never forget her love and kindness and gentleness. June had a remarkable life filled with great friendships and a loving family.

She is survived by; her sister Donna, son Bob, grandchildren Max, Shannon, Kelly and Erin and great grandchild Harper.

She is predeceased by her brothers Bob, Les, Paul, Lloyd, Don, Edward, William; and her son Edmund.

Visitation will be held at Thursday, June 29, at 10:00 a.m. at St Ignatius Church; followed by service at 11:00 a.m.
