Barbara Camp
Whitmore Lake — Her Legacy… Barbara Jane Camp, 80, passed away August 2, 2023. She was born on September 4, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan to Einar Wanhapiha and Gertrude (Kangas) Wanhapiha. Barbara married the love of her life, Lewis Camp Jr., on February 27, 1965, in Laurium, Michigan. Barbara drove a school bus for Whitmore Lake schools for over 20 years. She was the matriarch of her family, a devoted friend and always put her family first. Barbara was very spiritual and a lifelong church member. She was very humble and did not like to be fussed over, she would have rather been the one taking care of others. She was very proud of her Finnish heritage and had the SISU traits that came with it. Barbara enjoyed camping, playing golf and bowling. She loved Bingo, Yahtzee and puzzles. Barbara stayed close with her fellow school bus drivers and they met up weekly to play cards. Barbara was a joy to know and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Her FamilyÃ- Barbara will be missed by her children, Greg (Donna) Camp, Glenn (Leah) Camp, Doug (Lise) Camp, Tammie (Joe) Kurth, Kyle (Sherry) Camp, Jerod (Elizabeth Ritchie) Camp; sister, Beatrice (Dennis) Herrick; grandchildren, Jason, Ashlie, Holden, Jessica, Tyler, Anthony, April, Caleb, Joshua, Gabriel, Bryce, Noah; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Azalea, Bruce, Skylee, Fern; brother-in-law, Dan Crocker; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Camp Jr.; parents, Einar and Gertrude Wanhapiha; sisters, Marie Crocker and Virginia (Roger) Anderson.
Her FarewellÃ- Barbara’s family and friends will gather Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel in Hamburg, Michigan. Her Community Farewell will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. (10 a.m. gathering), at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 7701 M-36, Whitmore Lake, Michigan. Pastor Jeff Burgess will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
