Kent Simonson
Kent Robert Simonson, 76, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away on September 15, 2023, at Louis Memorial Christian Center. He was born September 27, 1947 to Robert (Bob) Simonson and Beverly Jean Brown Simonson. He was proceeded in death by his father and an infant son, Rusty.
Kent’s early years were spent in Houghton, Michigan at Woodmar (Michigan Tech’s Veterans Housing,) while his dad completed his education. After those years, the family moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois. Kent graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1965. After high school, he returned to Houghton to attend Michigan Tech and earned a BS degree in Business.
Kent married Janice LaBay in September, 1975 and they shared 30 years together. Kent’s main employment was with the Robert Bosch Corporation in Sales. After leaving Bosch, he drove a semi truck for a number of years.
Kent is survived by his mother, Beverly Jean of Hancock; daughter Elizabeth (Beth) and step-daughter Victoria, both in Illinois; a brother Robert (Bob) and wife Robin in Texas; and seven grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Kent will be held at a later date.
