Margaret Turovaara
TRAPROCK — Margaret (Marge) Turovaara, 84 of Traprock passed away on October 5, 2023. She was born in L’Anse on May 24, 1939, a daughter of Paul and Berniece (Koski) Laho. She graduated from John Pershing Highschool in Detroit in 1957.
She married Melvin Turovaara on May 25, 1957 and they resided in Redford until retiring to Bootjack and Traprock Valley.
She loved family gatherings and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandkids.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Melvin, and her children; Jim (Cheryl) Turovaara of Lake Linden, JoAnne (Paul) Hyrkas of Traprock Valley, Karen Perttola of Traprock Valley, and Margaret (Rob) McColl of Howell. Brothers Jim (Noreen) Laho, Dan (Val) Laho, brother-in-laws Neil Hermanson, Pat (Joan) McNally, sister Marie Hietala. Grandchildren; Elizabeth, John, Lanette, Jim, Rob, Tom, Sarah, Karen, Matt, Brian, Nina, Eric, Aaron, Melissa, and George, and 41 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Michael Laho, sister Marie Hermanson, brother-in-law Ken Hietala, sister-in-law Dee McNally, and son-in-law Todd Perttola.
A service for Margaret will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet with Pastor Mark Halonen to officiate. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at the First Apostolic Church in Calumet. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the First Apostolic Church in Calumet at PO Box 427, Calumet, Michigan 49913.
