Eldon Kinnunen

BURNSVILLE -- Eldon George Kinnunen, 91, passed away November 9, 2023, in Burnsville, Minnesota after a lengthy illness.

He was born on September 29, 1932, to Laina and Adam Kinnunen in Salo, rural Hancock, Michigan. He attended Salo and Hancock schools, served 4 years in the US Navy and graduated from Michigan Technological University.

He worked in the Army Corps of Engineers and the US Post Office as a structural engineer. After an early retirement and returning to live in Hancock, he spent 28 winters helping poor people in Reynosa, Mexico with the help of many volunteers that made trips there plus the many donors at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Helen Belttari.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice, daughter Katy (Troy) Petersen, sons Kelly and Karl (Nelly) Kinnunen, six grandchildren, Nels Petersen, Paige (Josh) Brozek, Yatziry, D'lhe, Carlos and Denzel Kinnunen, two great grandchildren Brooklyn and Jet Brozek. Also survived by his sister Lois Thurston and brothers Bill and Mark Kinnunen.

Eldon was a devoted Christian, having accepted Jesus into his heart and life. Therefore, his death was a final goal and victory entering the portals of Heaven to eternal life with Jesus!
