Suzanna Raker

MARQUETTE – CALUMET, MI ­– Suzanna Esther “Sue” Raker, age 75, of Marquette and formerly of Calumet, entered eternal life Sunday January 28, 2024 at the Michigan Veteran Homes D.J. Jacobetti, where she had resided since 2016.

Born March 11, 1948, in Detroit, Sue was raised by Paul and Genevieve Raker. She was a Copper Country resident for over 23 years. Sue was a US Army veteran and was honorably discharged in November 1996. Both she and husband, Fred, operated a small farm outside Calumet for many years. Sue enjoyed politics, birding, and being involved in veterans affairs, having assisted several World War II veterans with securing their benefits. She was a member of the Michigan Farmers Union.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Fred Galloway of Seattle, Washington

Preceding her in death were her parents; aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Paul Tagget; cousins, Gordon, Jim, Cathy Tagget, Gene Tagget, and George Tagget.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to your local animal shelter.

Services will be held at the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet this spring and will be announced.
