Teresa Obst

Hancock — Teresa (Miszkiewicz) Obst entered eternal life on March 15, 2024.

She was born on July 5, 1941, in a small town in Poland (Haly). She emigrated in 1950 to the U.S. and settled in Marquette, MI from a displaced person’s camp in Hohenfels, Germany with her Miszkiewicz family which included her parents and 3 brothers.

She is survived by her loving daughter Tanya Gajewska (Evan Reiter) and loving son Todd Gajewski (Lindsay Salo). She is also survived by her grandson Austin Gajewski. Her greatest love was being a grandma to Austin who she loved above anyone else.

She is also survived by her nephew Dr. Steven Miskiewicz (Sara) and daughters Molly and Anna, Patsy Kownacki and her son Tommy. Very special people in her life that were also in her heart were Matthew and Emily Schneider, Marie Lavine and Dave Schneider and Cathy and Mark Campbell Olszewski and their children Kelly, Airen and Adam as well as many other friends and especially Sr. Maryl Gardner.

Teresa was the best “nanny” to many now grown and who love her still for the fun and loving care she enthusiastically gave them. She had other work over the years including interior decorating, florist, telephone operator as well as a shift worker at Mead Paper, but being a “nanny” was definitely the highlight.

Her loving husband, Bill Obst, pre-deceased her on November 2, 2019. Bill was her best partner in life and now they are reunited in peace and eternal life.

A mass for Teresa will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at Church of the Resurrection in Hancock, with Fr. Corey Litzner to celebrate. A luncheon will be held after to gather and share stories and memories.

A Christian burial will take place when the season permits at Forest Hill Cemetery. To view Teresa’s obituary or to send condolences to the family please visit www.memorialchapel.net.
