Carl E. Peterson

WHITE LAKE — It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Carl E. Peterson, 58, of White Lake, Michigan, on April 5, 2024.

Carl was born August 10, 1965, in Royal Oak, Michigan, and grew up in Hubbell, Michigan. Carl attended and graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell Public Schools in 1983 Afterward, he attended higher education in Chicago, Illinois, and Marquette, Michigan.

From a young age, Carl had a knack for taking things apart. As he got older, he developed the skills to fix and put things back together. This led to his lifelong vocation as an auto mechanic, at which he was very skilled.

Carl was always hard working both at his job and in his personal life. He did not hesitate to help his family and friends with their projects. He always had a smile and a story to share.

Carl enjoyed outdoor pursuits, particularly hunting and fishing in his beloved Upper Peninsula. Some of that love of the outdoors was nurtured during his time in the Boy Scouts of America where he achieved the rank of Life Scout.

Carl was passionate about many things. He enjoyed growing roses, watching NASCAR and talking with family and friends. Carl was an accomplished cook/chef, especially on the grill. There is not a dog on the planet that Carl did not like, with many, rescued and residing with him over the years. Carl loved his family and was generous to a fault. He developed into a mean cribbage player, having learned from his grandparents at a young age. He took particular delight in beating his sister and brothers.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and June Peterson, his second wife Cindy, and his longtime companion Shari Bint.

He is survived by his stepdaughters Sissy Beugin (Jack) and Karlie Short along with siblings: sister Lisa Pugh (Mark), brothers Bruce Peterson (Kelli), Michael Peterson (Antoinette) and cousins Tim Peterson (Debbie) and Kristin Gowan (Gene). Surviving nieces and nephews include: Jessica Pennington (Jason), Heather Peterson, Bryan Peterson, Corrin Reeson (Brock), Elizabeth Bainbridge (Shaun), and Katie Smith (Jimmy).
