Doris Suomi

Doris was born July 2, 1929 in Painesdale, daughter of Axel and Ellen (Trasti) Johnson.

Doris graduated in 1947 from Houghton High School. In November 1947, she was united in marriage to John (“Riku Harkonen”) Suomi in Houghton.

In 1955, the family moved to Ashby, MA where they raised their family.

Riku passed away in December of 1967 leaving Doris and their 12 children to mourn.

In 1978, Doris moved to Lantana, FL with her 3 youngest daughters.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Riku, 2 daughters Jolene Sohlden and Marilyn Suomi and two granddaughters, Megan and Samantha.

Surviving Doris are eight daughters: Virginia (Paul) Anderson of SC, Verna (Robert) Maki of MA, Leona York of MI, Teresa (Gary) Palosaari of MI, Doreen Suomi of MA, Grace Hannu of SC, Andrea (Peter) Lappi of MI, Loralee Martin of WV, two sons: Rodney (Hannah) Suomi of MA and Randy (Lona) Suomi of ID. Many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will take place in Lake Worth, FL. Burial will be in Ashby, MA.
