Fran Monville

HUBBELL — Fran Monville, age 77, resident of Hubbell, Michigan, passed away on April 17, 2024 at UP Health System-Marquette.

He was born on October 4, 1946, a son of Irving and Gertrude (Geshel) Monville.

He attended Saint Cecilia Catholic School until 8th grade and graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1966.

He enlisted in the Air Force in August 1966 and retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service as a Jet Engine Technician and TurboProp Propulsion technician Tech Sargent. While serving in the Air Force, he earned numerous Medals: Commendation Medal, outstanding unit award, National Defense Service Medal, AF Organizational Excellence award, Air Force good conduct medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force overseas short and long tour ribbon, Expert Marksmanship ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and Campaign Medal.

He was married to his wife, Ilsa for 35 years.

He was a member of the Hubbell VFW #4624.

Many will remember Fran for the bikes he collected and repaired for less fortunate children in the neighborhood. He enjoyed gardening, playing pool and darts.

He was a friend to everyone and helped anyone who needed help. He loved life at the camp.

He was preceded in death by: Mother-Gertrude Monville, Father-Irving Monville, and Brother-Ernie Monville.

He is survived by: Wife-Ilsa, Daughter-Amanda Monville, (grandchildren (Brenden, Kurtes, Mateo, Mia) Daughter-Maureen Monville-Dumaree (Andy) (grandchildren Jacobb, Madalynne, Ayden, Nathaniel, Brooklynne), Stepson Chris Hunwardsen (Angela), Stepdaughter Pamela Rowe (Andy) (grandson Jacob), Stepson Derek Poyhonen (Teresa),(grandchildren Bailey, and Breyden), Brother Gary Monville (Stephanie) (Kyle), Sister Patty Codere (Joe) (Joe, Nicole and Scott), Brother Ernie Monville (Lois)(deceased) (Pam, Tina and Cherie), Dearest friends Bill and Katrina Eastman, along with numerous cousins and multiple extended family members.

The Copper Country Veterans will conduct Military rites for Fran Monville at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the start of the service.
