Grace N. Ala

She was born on August 4, 1935 in Lake Linden a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Anna (Gagnon) Johnson.

Grace graduated from Lake Linden Hubbell High School with the class of 1953.

On June 6, 1953 she was united in marriage to Water Ala and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1993.

Grace was employed at Calumet Public Hospital in housekeeping for 25 years.

She loved to spend time with her family and friends at her camp in Big Traverse and tending to her gardens and flowers. She also loved all of the dogs that were in her life over the years.

Grace was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Laurium and also was a active and energetic member of the Red Hat Society.

Preceding her in death was her husband Walter, 2 infant daughters: Mary Ann and Susan Ann, granddaughter Amy Nichols, sister Cecil Goldsworthy and 3 brothers: Clyde, Russell and Robert.

Surviving are: 3 sons, Terry Ala of the Jacobetti Home in Marquette, Scott Ala of Texas, Andrew Ala of Chassell. 2 daughters, Debbie (Roger) Maki Rice Lake, Shirley Ala of Maine. 3 grandchildren, Aaron Ala, Maggie (Dan) Puska and Matthew Seppala. 6 great grandchilden: Avery and Brooke Ala, Mila and Kade Nichols and Jaxon and Lennon Puska.

Funeral services will be held on April 20, 2024 at 1 p.m. in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Laurium with Rev. Bryan Lundquist to officiate.

Friends may call at the church on Saturday April 20, 2024 from 11 – 1 p.m.

Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
