Janet E. Hietala

South Range — Janet E. (Dennis) Hietala, 88, a resident of South Range passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at her home following a short illness.

She was born on May 2, 1935, in Hancock, MI. a daughter of the late George and Hannah (Naasko) Heinonen. Janet was raised in Ironwood, MI, and was a graduate of the Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1953. She then attended Soumi College in Hancock, MI.

In 1958, she was united in marriage to William Constenius. The couple had resided in Cokato, MN, where they raised their family. During that time Janet had worked in Banking, finance and inventory control. She then attended Hutchinson Vocational Tech receiving a degree in Sales and Marketing.

Janet moved to Minneapolis, MN, to work in advertising. In 1983, she was named district credit manager for Grainger Sales for the State of Minnesota. In November of 1988, she was proud to have been featured in the Grainger Network- National newsletter.

In 1988, Janet was united in marriage to Bill Ford and he preceded her in death in 1990. In 1995, she moved to make her home in Chassell, MI, and in 2007, was united in marriage to Dennis Hietala. The couple has resided in South Range during the summers and had done volunteer work for the Florida State Parks for 11 years and were voted volunteers of the month at the Florida State Parks. (Dennis helped with construction and Janet helped with artwork such as murals)

Locally Mrs. Hietala was a member of Shining Light Church of Luairum, she was active with the Copper Country Associated Artists, was a former featured artist at the Eagle Harbor Art Fair and participated at the Michigan Tech Juried art shows.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her son Brian Constenius; Her daughter Linda Constenius; her brother; Thomas Heinonen and her brother-in-law: Philip Ryynanen.

Surviving are: Her husband: Dennis Hietala of South Range; Her children: Bruce Constenius of Hancock, Karen (Pete) Lehto of Cokato, MN, & Thomas (Mary) Constenius of Dassel, MN; Her grandchildren: Andrew Josephson, Warren (Christina) Josephson, Brian (Brook) Josephson, Dan (Brandy) Josephson and Aaron Josephson; Her great-grandchildren: Logan, Emma, Noah, Olivia, Micha and Laura; Her Sister: Carole Ryynanen of Houghton & Mary (John) Hannus of Plymouth, MN; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service for Janet will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Shining Light Church of Laurium with Pastor Jay Weidner to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery of South Range.

Friends may call on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Shining Light Church of Laurium and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
