Jean Gannon

Sept. 23, 1923 – April 5, 2024

CLARKSTON – Jean Lorraine Gannon, age 100 of Clarkston, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024. She was born on September 23, 1923, in Lake Linden, MI to parents George and Lorraine (Chandonais) McNickle.

Jean completed her education as a Registered Nurse at Providence Hospital in Detroit in June 1945. While working in Detroit she met James L. Gannon and later they wed on June 26, 1948. Together they raised seven wonderful children, all who kept her very busy.

Jean was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church since 1957 and volunteered when able for OLL luncheons and weekly mass duty assistance. She will be remembered for her kind heart. She was the neighborhood Nurse on duty whenever first aid was needed. Her passion for baking cakes, dozens and dozens of cookies and the best pumpkin pies ever were enjoyed by all.

Jean is survived by her children: Linda (the late Tom) Leggat, Joanne (Gary) Barrie, Dennis Gannon, Michael (Sue) Gannon, Kevin (Marie) Gannon, Glen Gannon, and Nancy (Will) Rottenberk; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patricia McNickle; nieces Sue Compton, Michele McNickle Driver; nephew Patrick McNickle.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James L. Gannon; brother James McNickle; and nephew Jimmy McNickle.

The family would like to give special thanks to nurse Michele as well as the staff working on the Pavilion wing at Canterbury on the Lakes for their continuous care and compassion for Jean’s comfort.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 4 – 8p.m. at Coats Funeral Home, Waterford. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 15, 2024 with visitation at 9:30 a.m., and mass commencing at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Waterford. Interment at All Saints Cemetery in Waterford, Michigan.
