John C. Juntikka

John C. Juntikka, passed into eternal life on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at home. John was born in Detroit, MI on December 4, 1946, the son of John W. and Helen (Johnson) Juntikka. The family moved to Atlantic Mine Michigan, where he grew up, graduating from Houghton High School in 1965.

John was an avid sports enthusiast. He played football in high school and then hockey at Michigan State University. During his later years he was an avid golfer. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his master’s from Wayne State University. John worked for Nekoosa Papers, now Domtar, until his retirement. He married Karen Kanarek on November 29, 1968, in East Detroit Michigan. In Wisconsin, he was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen, and his brother-in-law, Gary (Diane) Kanarek. He was preceded in death by his father John W. Juntikka, his mother Helen Juntikka, and his brother-in-law Larry (Joanne) Kanarek.

A Memorial Mass with be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
