Rosalie Mary Rothstein (Gagnon)
Rose Rothstein died quietly on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 79 years of age. She was born Rosalie Mary Gagnon a few minutes after her identical twin sister, Roselynn Ann on March 10, 1945 in Lake Linden, Upper Michigan to Claire Dorothy Gagnon. For the last 25 years Rose was a resident of Cable, WI.
Rosalie, known as Lee Gagnon, graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1963. She worked briefly at Bosch Brewery in Hancock, MI, before moving to Milwaukee, WI to attend Patricia Stevens Career College. She then relocated to Glenwood City, WI, and commuted to her career job at 3M in St. Paul, MN. After some 38 years, Rose retired as a Senior Buyer/Sourcing Specialist. Upon retirement Rose relocated to Cable, WI, renovated a little cottage to be a beautiful home with unique collectibles, her personal favorites.
Rose’s cherished memories include growing up in the U.P. in their happy home on Hecla Street with Grandparents Alex and Valida Gagnon. Nothing short of adventurous, story after story of “the Gagnon twins” Lynn & Lee, enjoyed a simple life, making memories with the ‘gully gang’ in Lake Linden. It was a peaceful time, Grandpa had his garden, Grandma was an excellent cook and host for all in the neighborhood, the kids could safely play outdoors all day and come home just in time for supper, including plenty of the U.P. classic, known as the ‘pasty’.
Rose was passionate about caring for animals, often leaving out food for strays. She was unfailingly generous, whether family, friends, or strangers, really anyone in need. She especially loved antiques and decorating, craft shows, organic food, and reading.
Survived by sister, Roselynn Luks (Herb), son Mark Reiland (Nicole), nieces Michelle Luks, Melissa (Andrew) Schmidt, Marlys (Xavier) Haro, nephew Michael (Julie) Luks, great nephews Alex Haro, Adrian Haro and great niece Charlotte Luks.
While with us, Rose enjoyed a celebration of life at her home surrounded by family and friends, no further services will be held.
The family is absolutely grateful for the care Rose received by friends & neighbors in Cable, WI, your visits, calls and messages were highlights. Thank you to Regional Hospice for the excellent care by all and most especially the staff at Harbor Living Home in Hayward, WI. The extra attention given to detail was deeply appreciated.
