In Loving Memory of Carole J. LeMay.

Carole Jeanne LeMay, beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024 at the age of 90. Born on March 24, 1934, the fifth daughter of Albin J. and Tyne (Rintala) Stein in Hancock, Michigan. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished family bonds.

In 1955, she married Donald LeMay of Ishpeming, MI, and together they embarked on a journey that spanned over six decades. They shared a love that was steadfast, raising four children while moving from San Manuel, Az, to Ishpeming, MI, Virginia and Biwabik, MN. Eventually, they returned to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where they spent their later years, retiring and enjoying winters in Tucson, Arizona. Don and Carole were married for 64 years until his passing in January 2020.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Donna (Michael), John (Gina), Caroline (Joe), and Helen (Kevin), and her grandchildren, Jack, Alex (Stephanie), Andi, and Grace, and numerous Nieces and Nephews who will miss her deeply. Carole shared an especially close bond with her four beloved sisters who preceded her in death, Gloria, Barbara, Dolly and Heppy. All remained an important part of her life’s most cherished memories.

A kind and compassionate woman, Carole always put her family first. She devoted her life to raising her children who were her greatest pride and joy. Her generosity and selflessness were the foundation of her home, and she was a loyal source of support for those she held dear.

She was known for her sense of humor and her gift for making others laugh. She found joy in making holidays very special, filling her home with warmth, delicious meals and lasting memories that we cherish to this day. She loved to share tales of her childhood growing up in Hancock.

Always elegant and stylish, Carole was known for her sense of style, earning the “Best Dressed” award at The Bluffs in Houghton, MI, where she resided for the past four years and had many special friends there. Her friendships were many, and she touched the lives of all who knew her with her warm, welcoming spirit.

A memorial service will be held at the Ishpeming Cemetery on October 11 at 2 p.m. Carole’s memory will forever be a blessing to her family, friends, and all those who were lucky enough to have known her.
