Donna Picken

April 18, 1950 - May 21, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Marie Picken (Marx), born on April 18, 1950, who passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, at the age of 75.

Donna was born and raised in Calumet. She was a proud Yooper whose heart remained forever connected to her hometown.

After graduating with the Calumet class of 1968, she moved to the East Lansing area, where she began a lifelong career as a beautician. For over 42 years, she brought not only beauty but warmth and compassion to everyone who sat in her chair.

She shared 40 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Frederick “Fritz” Picken. Together, they made a loving home in Bath, Michigan where friends and neighbors always felt welcomed by her kindness and beautiful smile.

Though she never had children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were hers, always a steady source of love, laughter, and support.

She was known by all who met her as thoughtful, kind-hearted, and fun. You could not play 50’s/60’s music without her dancing and singing to the beat.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Picken; parents, Harold and Melba Marx (Seppela); and sister, Susan Marx.

She is survived by her brothers, Joseph Marx and David (Joan) Marx; along with nieces and nephews, Joseph Marx, Jr., Michael (Sue) Marx, Nicholas Marx, Peter (Brianne) Marx, Holly (Brent) Pifer, Jamie (Ryan)VanNoord, Kimberly (Robert) Metzger, and Sandy Picken; and several great nieces/nephews, cousins and wonderful lifelong friends.

Donna’s legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
