Edith Isaacson

Feb. 11, 1932 - June 14, 2025

Edith Margaret Isaacson, of Laurium, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 14, 2025, surrounded by family, at the home of her daughter (under the care of U. P. Home Health & Hospice and her physician Dr. Spring Madosh). Edith was born on Feb. 11, 1932, in Hancock, yo the late Matt and Jennie (Alatalo) Kesti.

Edith graduated from Hancock High School, class of 1950. She had an associate library science degree from Northwestern Michigan College. 

She met the love of her life, William Isaacson, and they were united in marriage on June 12, 1954, and he preceded her in death on July 8, 1980.

Edith started as an aide in the Calumet Public Schools in 1967, then supply clerk for the entire district. Following the completion of her courses, she worked as assistant librarian until her retirement from Calumet Public Library in 1992.

Edith loved learning local history and Native American culture, creative arts, painting, basket weaving, 25 years as an artist at Art on The Rocks, gardening, canning jams, and beets.

Edith was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet.

Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Harold (wife Elizabeth), and Richard Kesti; and sister, Judith (husband Bill) Antilla; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kathy Kesti, Paul and Ann Isaacson, John and Sandy Isaacson, and Marvin and Betty Berg. 

Edith is survived by two sons, Don (Patti) Isaacson of Sebeka, Minnesota, and Wayne (Julie) Isaacson of Sebeka; two daughters, Sue (Josh) Madden of Marquette and Kay (Richard) Bezotte of Buffalo, Minnesota; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren; brother, Fred Kesti of Bootjack;and two sisters-in-law, Betty Kesti of Copley, Ohio, and Donna Isaacson of Mohawk; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A funeral service for Edith Isaacson will be held at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet at 12 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Burial will take place in Eagle Harbor Cemetery following the service.
