Edward Swetich

April 25, 1956 - March 15, 2025

CALUMET — Edward “Eddie” Swetich was born in Calumet, April 25, 1956, the youngest and only son of Marion (LaRochelle) and Edward A. Swetich.

During high school he worked at Jim’s Pizza. He had a knack for electrical work at a young age, and after graduating from Calumet High, took a two-year course at Michigan Tech University in electrical.

He did some general contracting work in South Carolina and ended up in Colorado where his son Luke, was born. For a while, he worked with his sister Debbie in the kitchen of the restaurant she owned in Idaho Springs, The Buffalo Bar. He also learned the drywall business.

After visiting his good friend Kevin Kilpela from Calumet, who then lived in Washington state, he decided to move to Lacey, Washington. He did some sheet rock work but then went back to working with electronics. Eddie had a passion for rebuilding high end sound equipment and developed an expertise in rebuilding systems for people around the world. He also loved hobby trains and had an extensive collection.

Eddie never gave up on anything and always found a way to make something work. He got along with everyone, was compassionate and had a big heart. He died on March 15, 2025, of pneumonia with his family by his side. He will be remembered as a good dad and a great grandfather and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his son, Luke; daughter-in-law Kitiara; grandsons, Dorian and Emrys; sisters, Donna Bausano of Calumet, Debra Simmons of Springfield, Missouri, and Rose Zawadski of Oxford, Michigan; and numerous cousins.
