Robert Bingham

Robert T. Bingham, age 83, passed away on Dec. 13, 2024, at Eastview Medical and Rehab Center in Antigo, Wisconsin. Robert (Bob or Ribs to friends) was born on Oct. 28, 1941, in Hancock, to the late Cyril and Katherine (Hermanson) Bingham. On Oct. 20, 1962, he married Marie Hendrickson in Laurium.
Bob was a graduate of Hancock High School in 1959, attended Suomi College and served in the United States Navy Reserves in Great Lakes, Illinois, from 1960-63.
Bob worked at Zenith Electronics, Glenview, Illinois, for 13 years, and then joined Michigan Technological University, Houghton, in 1975, and retired in 2001 as a maintenance engineer.
Bob enjoyed the many opportunities to work on innovative projects, and the interaction with many different people. He had received employee recognition honors with the most rewarding being one where his coworkers wrote in their nomination, “He always has a joke to tell, always has a smile to give, and always has an ear to listen.”
Family, friends and volunteering were always first for Bob. Some of Bob’s volunteering included as coach and member of the Torch Lake Hockey Association, and member of the Lake Linden Linebackers club.
Outdoor activities were a large part of Bob’s life. He loved hockey, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, deer and small game hunting, cross country skiing, gardening/lawn care and watching the Green Bay Packers. Bob also enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren, and his children and their spouses.
Bob is best remembered for his sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marie; daughter, Diane (Dick) Pence of White Lake, Wisconsin; son, Robert “Bob” (Jessica) Bingham II of Clarkston, Michigan; three grandchildren, Katie Pence of Denver, Colorado, Bill (fiancee Mallory) Pence of San Jose, California, and Matthew Bingham of Clarkston; three sisters, Mimi Wercinski of Cape Canaveral, Florida; Joni Rosenson of Rockford, Illinois; and Beverly Burns of Stockton, California; and brother, Bill (Ginny) Bingham of Houghton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by two sisters, Kathy Scigliano and Betsy Bingham.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. at the family home, 26514 Hendrickson Road, Calumet.
