Dale Peterson

CHASSELL — Dale R. Peterson, 85, a resident of Chassell, Spring Lake, Michigan, and Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in Spring Lake, MI, with his family by his side.

He was born Jan. 11, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan. Son of Reino A. Peterson and Helen J. Peterson, previously deceased.

Dale is survived by one brother, Dean (Frances) Peterson from Kentucky; three children, Deborah (Paul) Saaranen, James (Mary) Peterson, and Donna Peterson, all of Michigan; grandsons, Josh Saaranen of Michigan, Joel (Jamie) Saaranen of Arizona; great grandchildren, Eero, Abigail, Henry, Otto, Anneli and Olivia; special nephew, David (Kelly) Peterson along with children David Jr, Jill, and Jay, all of Kentucky.

Previously deceased sons, Jeffrey Peterson and Gregory Peterson.

Dale graduated from Southfield High School and attended Michigan Tech and Lawrence Tech. He served three years in the Army Reserve as a combat medic.

Dale worked professionally in the metals industry, primarily in the powder metal industry. Work assignments resulted in living in Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio. He retired at the age of 67 after working 50 years. After retiring, he was recognized by the Powder Metal Society for his contribution to the Powder Metal Industry. He was also very active in the American Society of Metals, ASM. During retirement, Dale resided in Spring Lake, Chassell, and wintered in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Dale served on the Chassell Planning Commission, dedicating himself to be a liaison to the committee, Chassell Township Board and the Houghton County Road Commission with regards to road repairs and projects within Chassell Township. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and his car collection.

A Memorial service for Dale will be at Range Apostolic Lutheran Church in South Range July 19 with Rev. Ernest Bylkas officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with an 11 a.m. service and luncheon to follow.  Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery.
