Evelyn Jackman

Evelyn Gladys Jackman (Ruottinen), born July 13, 1932, Calumet, passed away peacefully at Essentia Hospice Unit in Virginia, Minnesota, on March 4, 10:45 p.m. She was able to speak to many of her family members on Sunday, who showed their love for her which was the greatest gift of all to her.
Surviving are her sons, Don, John, Kevin and Dean; daughters, Kathleen, Judy, Candy and Julie; and one sister, Gloria Kivela.
Preceding her in death were her sons, Mark Nestor and Brian Dale; husband, John Jackman; and parents, Walter and Gladys (Koskela) Ruottinen; and brother, Don.
Evelyn was blessed with 33 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Mom’s last words to me were, tell everyone, “I did the best I could.” She loved flowers, roses most of all and her last flower seeds to me was a packet of FORGET ME NOT seeds.
There will be a gathering of family and friends for a service at the old Methodist church in Central where several summers were spent at the old post office at 11 a.m to celebrate Evelyn’s life. From 3-5 p.m., a luncheon will be served at 51389 Paradise Lane (Road) Lake Linden.
Directions: M26 to Bootjack Road, pass Maple Leaf bar on to Rice Lake Road, turn left until you get to almost end before Rice lake. Paradise Lane is a dirt road to your right and 1 1/2 miles down on the right a yellow house with metal roof and a sign with “Whistling Pines.”
