Rose Pleshe
June 12, 1934 - Aug. 30, 2025

CHASSELL — Rose Marie (Olson) Pleshe, age 91, of Chassell, and former longtime resident of South Range, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Aug. 30, 2025, at Portage Pointe in Hancock.
She was born on June 12, 1934, in Atlantic Mine. Rose Marie was the daughter of the late Ann Cote and Raymond Olson and a 1952 graduate of Chassell High School.
Following graduation, Rose Marie moved to Chicago before returning to the Copper Country, where she worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell. She worked at the College Avenue Vision Clinic for 20 years prior to her retirement.
On Oct. 27, 1956, she was married to the late Tony (Tona) Pleshe at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Chassell.
Rose Marie was extremely welcoming, lighting up with joy with whomever she encountered. Her home was always open. She was happy to be known to many as “Ma Pleshe” because she loved, accepted, and treated everyone as her own son or daughter.
In her neighborhood, she baked cakes for special occasions, pierced countless ears and gave haircuts and perms to anyone who asked. Music was a big part of her life, and she loved singing in the church choir and along with Tona. She appreciated family time and cooked large holiday dinners, establishing many family traditions. She lived her faith with compassion, and through her actions passed on her legacy of being Jesus on earth for others. She had a great sense of humor, was quick-witted right to her last days, and knew how to laugh at herself, making her so much fun to be around.
She was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers and most of all Red Wings. She loved hummingbirds, flowers, bowling league, Scrabble, Mi Rummy, a full moon, and newborn babies.
Rose Marie loved to travel, her favorite being her trip to Jerusalem. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She enjoyed supporting her kids and grandkids in their extracurricular activities. She loved each and every one of them deeply and unconditionally.
Prior to moving to Chassell, Rose Marie was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church Choir and served on the Altar Society as well as St. Anne’s Catholic Church of Chassell, the Chassell Woman’s Club and the VFW Auxiliary.
Surviving are her brother, Raymond (Suzanne) Olson Jr.; sister-in-law, Judy Pleshe; children, Joanie (Bob) Barron, Tony (Karen) Pleshe, Douglas Pleshe, Annette (Weston) Lawrence, Andrea Pleshe-Sims, and Connie (Kevin) Borseth; son-in-law, Tony Gemignani; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephew, and her very special cousins whom she loved deeply.
Besides her parents, Rose Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Tona; daughter, Rosemarie Gemignani; and infant son Frederic; sister, Georgiana Mickelson; brothers-in-law, Dick Mickelson and Joseph Pleshe; and nephews, Michael Pleshe and Richard Mickelson.
