Sean Nelson

April 27, 1976 - Sept. 1, 2025

CALUMET — Sean Nelson, age 49, of Calumet, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sept. 1, 2025.

Born on April 27, 1976, in Bay City, Michigan, Sean was raised in Harvey.

Sean lived a life as big as his presence, standing tall with tattoos, laughter, and a spirit impossible to ignore. Sean was known for his humor, his honesty, and his boundless love. He never met a stranger — turning rooms full of people into friends with his jokes, his warmth, and even the occasional rallying cry.

On Sept. 9, 2023, Sean married the love of his life, Amy (Nelson). Though their years together were far too few, their marriage was filled with deep love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Sean embraced Amy’s family as his own, especially caring for her mother, Karen, and supporting the family after the loss of Amy’s brother, Erik.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Raymond and Maxine Fay Nelson; and his brother-in-law, Erik Nelson.

Sean is survived by his loving wife, Amy; and her mother, Karen. He is also survived by his daughters, Isabella Zanetti and Shawna Nelson; his sisters, Kelli Martinez (Jerry) and their children Jerry, Alexandra, and Kristofer; Kristin Nelson (Darrell Clark) and their daughter Briar; and Nicole Nelson and her son Carter; along with the family that he recently reunited with.

Sean’s legacy is one of love lived out loud. He cried without hesitation, loved without condition, and gave more of himself than anyone ever asked. He will be remembered for his booming voice, his bright spirit, and the way he made everyone around him feel like family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Services – Hancock Chapel, with visitation from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. and the service beginning at 1 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate Sean’s life.
