Charlotte Pera

RIPLEY — Charlotte (Char) A. Pera, 81, a former resident of Ripley, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, at the Delaware House of Portage Pointe in Hancock following a lengthy illness.
She was born on June 1, 1944, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Paul and Doris (Ross) Nomellini. Char was raised in Hancock and was a graduate of Hancock Central High School.
Char met the love of her life, Dennis Pera, at the skating rink. They were married on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 1966, at St. Joseph St. Patrick church in Hancock. The couple resided in Ripley as they raised their two children. On June 13, 1996, Dennis preceded Charlotte in death.
Char worked at Lazzari’s Market in Hancock, as a paraprofessional in the Hancock Public Schools, and at Kukkonen’s Hallmark Store in the Copper Country Mall.
She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton.
She loved dogs, and enjoyed watching the Packers, playing bingo, coloring, and watching Hallmark movies. She was also a very proud grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Dennis; her parents; her sister, Delores “Lori” Parker; and her brother, Fr. Paul Nomellini.
Surviving are her children, Julie (Rick) Rickard of Lake Linden and Brian (Jennifer) Pera of Ontonagon; her grandchildren, Alyssa (Tyler) Roose and Alex (Mariah) Pera; her brother, Ross (Vickie) Nomellini; her brother-in-law, James “Zip” (Barb) Parker; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial for Charlotte will be held 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service – Hancock Chapel where a Parish Prayer Service will be held at 6 p.m., and on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. until time of services at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton.
The family would like to thank the staff at Portage Pointe for making it feel like her home for the past eight years and the staff in the ICU for their excellent care.
