Ashley Aho

a suspected accidental fentanyl overdose (still under investigation).

She is survived by her parents, Stephanie Booth (Timothy Booth) and Loren Aho (Beth Campbell); sisters, Alexis Aho, and Emma Aho; half sister, Kayla Parkin; grandparents, Judy Gross, Jack and Karen Harden, James Booth, Donald Aho, Marla Martinson, and Dan and Sharon Campbell; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ashley graduated from Hancock Central High School in 2016, attended

Finlandia University, and later took classes through Walden University. She was strong, determined, and a hard worker throughout her short life. She had a passion for music and received many awards in high school for band. More recently, she continued to pursue her passion for the drums. Ashley was also an avid runner and received many high school and collegiate awards for cross-country running.

Throughout the ups and downs of adolescence, Ashley worked hard to find balance and belonging. In early adulthood, she struggled to stay on the right path. Recently, she had decided to turn her life around and had plans for her future.

She wanted to make a difference in the world and was working to become someone she was proud of. Raising awareness for mental health was always very important to Ashley and she shared openly about her personal journey on the autism spectrum and depression. She became a behavioral health technician to help others with similar mental health journeys and worked many side jobs – while quietly battling her own struggles.

Ashley’s death has left a hole in the hearts of her family and those who knew her. It is a stark reminder of the importance of resilience, the love and compassion of community, the mental health challenges many people struggle with, and the opioid crisis our country faces.

Dial Help (currently known as Copper Shores Community Health Foundation) played a particularly important role in Ashley’s life. She worked and volunteered there before moving away from the area in 2022.

You can join the family on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, for a visitation from 2-3 p.m., a

memorial service at 3 p.m., and food/reception following the service. All will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 201 Isle Royale Street, Houghton, Michigan, 49913.
