Donald Thomas Learmont, affectionately known as Don, lived a life marked by unwavering love for his family, a passion for adventure, and a dedication to the community that will be deeply missed.
Born on Jan. 4, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, Don’s journey through life was one of joy, laughter, and an enduring commitment to the people and places he cherished. On Oct. 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, Don passed away peacefully in White Lake, Michigan.
Don’s life was a testament to the power of love and family. He was the beloved husband of Jennifer, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 33 years, having wed on the very same day he would later depart this world. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Halie (Zack) Byrd, Trevor Learmont, and Hannah Learmont. Don’s joy multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Lilliana and Caleb Byrd, who will forever treasure their grandfather’s warmth and guidance.
As a brother, Don was a source of support and camaraderie to Robert (Val) Learmont and Mary (Jeff) Hatfield. He was a cherished son to his father, Thomas Learmont, and carried the memory of his mother, Ann, and step-mother, Ruth, in his kind heart. His four-legged companions, Jake and Ollie, were constant sources of joy and comfort to him throughout his life.
Don’s professional life was dedicated to nurturing young minds as he concluded his career at Walled Lake Northern High School in 2023. His influence extended beyond the classroom, as he was an integral part of his community and local athletics.
Don’s unwavering support for his children’s sports and events was well-known; he was a fixture on the sidelines, always offering words of encouragement and pride. Don was an avid supporter and Detroit Lions fan. Don had a firm belief he would watch them win the Super Bowl.
His adventurous spirit led Don and his family on countless excursions to explore the beauty of nature. Trips to the Upper Peninsula, Isle Royale, Pictured Rocks, Ohio, and Indiana were among his favorite getaways. Summers were spent camping with his family, creating memories that would last a lifetime. These experiences were not just vacations; they were an embodiment of Don’s love for exploration and his desire to share that with the people he loved most.
Don was a true family man, whose loving nature was evident in every aspect of his life. His intelligence was matched by his adventurous soul, and those who knew him were inspired by his zest for life. Don’s legacy is one of love, adventure, and the pursuit of knowledge, and he will be remembered for the strength and compassion he showed to everyone around him.
