CALUMET — Janet Hendrickson, age 65, a resident of Calumet, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Nov. 12, 2025, at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital, where she was a patient for the past three months.

Janet was born on Oct. 19, 1960, in Laurium, the daughter of the late Weldon and Janet (Isola) DuLong. Janet was raised in Hubbell and attended St. Cecelia Catholic school until Its closing, then St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Lake Linden, and later attended Lake Linden-Hubbell High School.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ericca (Unai) Gutierrez-Abecia of Spain, and Brooke Carlson of Hancock; two grandchildren, Owen and Naia Gutierrez; her three sisters, Nancy (Francis) Bessner of Lake Linden, Charlene Klein of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Jacqueline Huuki of Hubbell; and two brothers, Robert DuLong of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and James DuLong of Dollar Bay; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janet was preceded in death by her two parents; her three sisters, Sharon (James) Murphy, Patricia Paananan, and Grace Corrigan; and her two brothers, Brian DuLong and Donald DuLong.

Janet was happy with very little but had a big and giving heart; she always had a smile to share and found joy in life’s simple moments — a good song on the radio, a warm day, or a friendly conversation. She will be remembered with affection by those who knew her – her laughter, kindness, and gentle spirit.

Those wishing to honor her memory may do so by performing a simple act of kindness.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

The family wants to thank Aspirus Keweenaw in Laurium, physicians, nurses, and their entire staff for the excellent care and compassion shown to our sister Janet – we will never forget.

The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be shared online at pearcefuneralhome.com.
