Mary Schmitt

Mary was born in Syracuse, New York, on Feb. 19, 1953, a daughter of James and Frances Craft. She graduated from Mundelein High School in 1971. 

She was married to Daniel Schmitt and they moved to the Copper Country after their first two children were born. She raised her three children in Hubbell.

Mary loved to help others. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and especially writing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Stephanie; in-laws, Joe and Maebelle Schmitt; and special friend, Carl.

Mary is survived by her three children, D.J. Schmitt of Hubbell, Denise (Tim) Gordon of Bad Axe, Michigan, and Denny Schmitt (Jen Colbert) of Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Kendra, Micah, Tate, and Emma; former spouse, Daniel Schmitt, Sr.; along with nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday evening, Nov. 7, 2025, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with a Funeral Liturgy planned for 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Brothers of Hancock in her name.
