Paul Jukkala

HOUGHTON — Paul Jukkala, 72, a resident of Houghton, passed away Friday,
Oct. 31, 2025, at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 27, 1953, in Hancock, a son of the late Leonard and Elmi (Wayranen) Jukkala. Paul was raised in Houghton and attended the Doelle School and graduated from the Houghton High School with the class of 1971.
Mr. Jukkala was a veteran, having served with the United States Navy.
Following the service, Paul began a career working as a welder mostly for Lakeshore Systems in Ontonagon until the company’s closing.
On Jan. 6, 1973, he was united in marriage to the former Sharon Johnson. The couple resided in Houghton as they raised their family. Paul enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Ron Jukkala; and his sisters; Mary Thayer and Eunice Prymek.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon Jukkala; his children, Lisa (Clint) Heikkila, Laura (Jason) Wiitanen, Jana (Byron) Ruonavaara, Nicholas (Mari) Jukkala, Cindy (Cort) Rajala, Mary (Robert) Mayo, Eric (Beth) Jukkala, and Colleen (Matthew) Berryman; 44 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; his brother, David (Sandy) Jukkala; his sisters, Linda (Joe) Wattson and Helen Laux; his half-brother, William Phillips; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service for Paul will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Jamie Hammerstrom to officiate.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, from 11 a.m. until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service – Hancock Chapel.
