Mary Kaufman
FREDA — Mary Linda Kaufman was born in 1951 to Vincent and Lucille Morin. A proud Yooper, Mary lived in Freda for the majority of her life.
Through her work at the West End Grocery and Schmidt’s Corner Store, Mary engaged with many members of her community, offering stability, kindness, and a listening ear to those in need. Mary spent her later years caring for her grandbabies, chatting with her older sister, feeding an army of hummingbirds, and looking out at the views of Lake Superior.
She passed away Thanksgiving morning in her Freda home at the age of 74.
Mary is survived by her greatest accomplishments, the loves of her life, her three girls, Nichole, Michelle, and Cheyenne; her two grandchildren, Mason and Vance; her three sisters, Cindy, Peggy, and Paulette; several lifelong friends and neighbors from Freda; and the countless community members whose lives were gently impacted by their encounters with Mary in her work and daily life.
She joins in death her parents; and younger brother, Joe.
