Gloria (Gene) Taylor

Gloria J. (Gene) Taylor, 86, a former resident of Dollar Bay, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Our Lady of Mercy Convalescent Home

in Hubbell, where she had been a resident patient.

She was born on February 25, 1939, in Mohawk, MI, a daughter of the late Arne and Irene (Kemppainen) Johnson. As a child, she moved with her family to Hubbell and was a graduate of the Lake Linden High School with the class of 1957.

Following high school, Gloria worked as a nurse’s aide until going to school to become a nurse. She then worked at the Hospital in Newberry and St. Joseph’s/Portage View Hospital in Hancock.

On October 17, 1970, she was united in marriage to Matt North. The couple made their home in Dollar Bay. On October 26, 2010, Matt preceded Gloria in death. On May 4, 2013, Gloria was united in marriage to Eugene Taylor and the couple continued to make their home in Dollar Bay.

Gloria has been an active member of Bethany Baptist Church in Dollar Bay for many years. While married to Matt, the couple enjoyed volunteering for over 40 summers at the Gitche Gumee Bible Camp. They also enjoyed riding motorcycles.

Preceding Gloria in death were her first husband Matt, her parents, her brother Ernest Johnson, her stepdaughter-in-law Ann North and her

nephew Joseph Johnson.

Surviving are: Her stepsons: Gary North, Gene North and Glenn (Laura) North. Her four step-grandchildren and her 8 step-great grandchildren

A funeral service for Gloria will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Bethany Baptist Church of Dollar Bay. Burial will be

later this spring in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 10 am until time

of services at Bethany Baptist Church of Dollar Bay.
