Jerry MacInnes

CHASSELL — Jerry J. MacInnes, 99, a resident of Chassell and well-known community member, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Omega House in Houghton.

Jerry was born in Erie, PA on September 1, 1926, the daughter of John J. Honey and Inis (Will) Honey. She graduated from Millcreek High

School and earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1948.

She was married to John J. MacInnes on July 10, 1948. She was the office manager of the U of M Phoenix Project for four years.

They moved to Houghton in 1956 when John accepted the position of

hockey coach at Michigan Tech University. Jerry worked at the Michigan Tech Employees Federal Credit Union for 27 years, retiring in

1988.

Jerry was a member and Elder of Portage Lake United Church. She was past president and member of Chapter DJ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and

past president of the MTU Huskies Club as well as serving on the board of the Hockey Advisory Committee. She was inducted into the Michigan

Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.

Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert, half-brother John Honey Jr. and her husband, John.

She is survived by a half-sister, Laurel McCullum, son Scott (Elizabeth) MacInnes, daughter Patricia (Marc) Angell, four

grandchildren, Mac Angell, Kim (Scott) McCary, Jeffrey (Kate MacDuffie) MacInnes, and Laura (Ben Shipowitz) MacInnes and five great

grandchildren, Aiden Hackbarth, Logan and Wyatt Angell, Teia MacInnes and Jett Shipowitz and former daughter-in-law Joanne.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held later this spring. Jerry’s family would like to thank the staff of the Omega House in

Houghton and Aspirus Home Health and Hospice for the care given to her.
