Sandra (Clyde) Raasio
Sandra (Clyde) Raasio, 83, a resident of Frenchtown, passed away at home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She was born in 1942, in Flint, MI, a daughter of the late George and Margaret (King) Bearup. Sandra was raised in Flint and was a graduate of Flint Northern High School. Following high school, she worked as a secretary for various businesses.
In 1965, she was united in marriage to Clyde Raasio. The couple moved to Eschenbach, Germany, while Clyde was in the United States Army. Following the service, the couple returned to Flint before moving to make their home in the Copper Country.
As they raised their family, they resided in Chassell and Lake Linden before moving to make their home in Frenchtown. Locally, Sandra had worked as a Secretary at Michigan Technological University until her retirement.
Music was a large part of Sandra’s life; she enjoyed playing the piano and guitar, often spending hours at her piano at home or singing with her grandchildren. Blessed with a creative mind and artistic hands, Sandy had a love of gardening, painting, crocheting, ceramics, and stained glass art. She was also an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School, and playing music for Sunday school programs and different events at the church.
Sandy also enjoyed spending time visiting with her family and friends, as well as exploring the world and traveling extensively throughout North America and Europe with her husband and children. Her grandchildren recall her often telling them that she loved them “like a mule-a-kickin’.”
Sandy is preceded in death by her grandson, Eric Raasio.

A memorial service for Sandra will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Zion Lutheran Church of Hancock with Pastor Jesse Aho to officiate. Friends may call on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 12 noon until time of services at Zion Lutheran Church of Hancock. Spring burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.
